Don’t Miss Out – Renew Now!

We know that the challenges you face as members of school communities are significant. The Michigan Institute of Educational Management (MIEM) is here to help you face those challenges by providing programming that you can’t get anywhere else. MIEM provides you, and your staff, with the most current and important information on crucial topics affecting education in Michigan.

The earlier you renew your membership, the more opportunity you have to win a 1-day registration for a MIEM event. Only memberships submitted by August 31, 2010 will be eligible. A drawing will be held each month beginning in June through December 31, 2010.

Our July Winner Is: Buckley Community Schools

As a member, you also receive these added benefits:

  1. Advanced registration on all MIEM events. This is crucial when seating is limited.
  2. Discounts on workshops and conferences.
  3. Receive scholarships for attendance to workshops and conferences.
  4. Special online training.

Renewing your membership is easy. Fax the membership form to 517/327-0771, or mail it to: MIEM, 1001 Centennial Way, Suite 300, Lansing, MI 48917. Renew by August 31, 2010 to ensure you get your discount. Once membership is paid, your district will receive the special membership registration rate. We cannot retroactively reimburse for member registration rates.

Sincerely,
Daniel G. Pappas, Executive Director MIEM

If Not Now - When? Certification Takes You to the Next Level

We know that change is inevitable. Michigan faces incredible economic challenges, which are having a huge impact on our schools. What hasn’t changed is the value that you get by achieving a MSBO certification.

Registration is now open for the 2010- 2011 year. Certification is for business officials in their first one to five years of employment. If you have more than five years of school experience a waiver of classes may be made through grandparenting. Documents to get started can be found on MIEM's website.

If you have questions or would like more information, contact Courtney Byam or Debbie Kopkau.

Register today.

Kick Off Your Certification
Sign Up Now for Intro to School Business

This conference takes many certification classes and rolls them into an information-packed, two-day event!

Get an understanding of the major functions of school business officials, how to survive the personal and professional politics of your job, and learn how the Michigan Department of Education and the Michigan Legislature affect education. This is a great opportunity to begin the learning process for new staff or to begin prepping existing staff for greater responsibility. It’s also a great refresher for “veterans” who want a basic review of information.

This conference is a required class for certification in the following tracks: Chief Financial Officer, Business Office Manager, School Payroll Specialist, Business Office Specialist and Human Resource Specialist.

1.3 SB-CEUs can be earned.
